ðŸ‘‚ Click here to listen to this page being read.

Today's Learning Intention:

  • To recognise and name 3D objects.
  • To identify edges, faces, corner/vertices of 3D objects

Listen to the song about 3D objects (Please note that the video says 3D shapes).

If the video does not play, please click here

Activity:

Today you will be using different materials (see below) to create different 3D objects. If you do not have these materials at home, complete today's alternative activity found at the bottom of this blog post.

Materials you will need for making 3D objects:

  • Either dry spaghetti, tooth picks or straws
  • Either marshmallows or playdough

Using the materials above, make your own 3D objects by connecting them together to make a cube, prism or cone. See the image below for an example.

Remember to take a photo and send it to your teacher.

Here is a video demonstrating how to make 3D objects with materials that are similar to yours.

Today's Learning Intention:

  • To name 3D objects correctly.
  • To identify edges, faces, corner/vertices of 3D objects

If you need a quick reminder about 3D objects, re-watch  Mrs Sadler's video below.

Now that we know what 3D shapes are, we are going to have a scavenger hunt.

Categorise (that means group) the objects you found on Monday into groups of cubes, spheres, prisms, cylinders and cones.

Place the 3D objects into groups, take a photo and send it to your teacher.
