Thursday Week 2 - Writing Friends are important in our lives!

Last week you read the book, My Friend Fred. You wrote a list about ‘what makes a good friend’. 

This week the girl and the Gorilla became friends and they had fun together. This made the girl very happy. 

Think about why we like having friends? Why do you like playing with your friends?  

Why do you think that friends are important in our lives?

Today you are going to write about ‘why you think friends are important’. 


Remember to:-

  1. write your opinion

  2. write 2 reasons why you think friends are important

  3. restate your opinion (write your opinion again)




Friday Week 2 - Writing In the night, something amazing happened...

In the story ‘Gorilla’ it says…. In the night something amazing happened…


Can you remember all of the things that happened that night? 

  1. Write down 3 things that happened to the girl that night

Tuesday Week 2 - Writing - Personal Response

Re-read the story Gorilla. What did you think about this book? 

What did you like about Anthony Browne’s story, Gorilla? Did you like it? What parts did you like? What didn’t you like? 

Now think about the illustrations (drawings). What did you like or not like about them? 

Put your thoughts about the story and the illustrations in the table below.

Wednesday Week 2 - Writing - Emotions Detective

Writing:

Type of text = Informative


The girl in the story shared lots of emotions (feelings) with us. For example when Gorilla was looking at her in her bed, the girl looked scared. She looked scared because she was hiding underneath the covers.

What other emotions did the girl have? How do you think she was feeling? Why do you think that? 

  1. You are going to be an emotions detective. You will be searching the story and the illustrations for clues about how the girl is feeling. 

  2. Write about how the girl was feeling and the WHY you think that. Use the word because to help you. 

For example:- The girl looked scared because she was hiding under the covers.



 




Monday Week 2 - Writing Drawing the Gorilla

 Writing:

Type of text: Imaginative


What do you think Gorilla looked like? Was it exactly how Anthony Browne illustrated it in his book? Or do you have a different image in your head about what Gorilla looks like?

  1. Think about Gorilla’s appearance (what he looks like). 

  2. Draw a picture of Gorilla.

  3. Label the picture
