In the video, there was one animal in each crate. When we're dividing, it's important to make sure we're sharing equally. Imagine if Marty, Alex and Gloria were all in the same box? Would that be fair? No, there wouldn't be enough space. When we share (divide) it needs to be equal and fair.

Today we will be learning how to divide and share equally between groups.  Watch Miss Rubino's demonstration on how to do this.

Now it's your turn.

Collect 12 of the same household items (e.g. 12 toys, 12 pens, 12 lego blocks, 12 pairs of CLEAN socks).

Imagine these 12 objects are zoo animals. Pretend they are being placed in crates and being transferred to a new zoo (just like in the video). Each crate needs to have the same amount of animals (i.e. toys, pens, lego blocks or socks) in them otherwise it would not be fair. If the crates were unequal, some animals would have heaps of space, and other animals would be squished.

Use your 12 household items and share them equally between the number of groups allocated on your work packs. Remember “To divide... start with it all, then share so it’s fair” .

Have Fun!
