Mass is how heavy or light an object is. We can use a pan balance to see which object has a heavier or lighter Mass.

Today you will be learning how to make your own home-made pan balance. You will be using this for the rest of the week and into some of next week.
Watch the video below to learn how to make your own pan balance. It also explains how to use it to measure and compare the mass of different objects.
Once you have watched the video above, complete the activity sheet below. You can choose to either complete page 1 (pre-provided template) or page 2 (where you draw it yourself). First predict which object will be heavier or lighter and draw your prediction on the 'My Prediction' side. Then use your pan balance to check. Draw what actually happened on the 'Actual Answer' side. When done, take a photo and send it to your teacher.
